Haller Park Sanctuary

Oasis of Urban Nature

Explore a quiet green retreat that supports wildlife & makes conservation work together

Haller Park is an extraordinary eco-sanctuary in Mombasa (on the coast of Africa). Originally the site of a limestone quarry, Haller Park has been created by human effort to recreate nature and has become an Ecolodge. Haller Park is often called a “green jewel” along the coast and offers visitors opportunities to enjoy nature, wildlife, and sustainability.

Wild animals such as giraffes, antelopes, hippos, zebras, and giant tortoises have their different habitats throughout this sanctuary. Haller Park’s trail system is well-maintained and leads through unique landscapes, including forests, wetlands, and grasslands. Animals can be seen up close due to the excellent trail system.

Haller Park is particularly noted for its conservation and rehabilitation projects, which create a safe place for rescued animals and promote biodiversity restoration. Haller Park also provides environmental education. It demonstrates how degraded areas (land) can be rehabilitated through a sustainable method.

What is the Best Time to Visit?

Choosing the Time to visit this lush ecological paradise in Mombasa & enhance your experience at Haller Park

This attraction has a coastal climate and well-maintained habitats; thus, the park is an excellent year-round destination. The dry periods of June through October and January through February are the best times to walk trails comfortably; animals tend to congregate near feeding areas, making it easier to see wildlife. The dry-season temperatures make for great days to tour the park (either guided or unescorted) and to take pictures.

The rainy seasons, from March through May and from November through December, make Haller Park very green and vibrant. During the rainy season, vegetation flourishes, and many bird species are more active than in the dry season, offering visitors abundant opportunities to observe them and take in the beautiful landscapes of Haller Park.

Budget and convenience are also factors travellers should consider. Haller Park is simply accessible from any area of Mombasa. Haller Park costs less than many traditional safaris and offers a more meaningful wildlife experience than any other park or safari in Mombasa.

Rich Biodiversity and Wildlife

Haller Park represents an extraordinary example of ecological restoration

Haller Park offers visitors the opportunity to see numerous animals, including giraffes, hippos, zebras, and giant tortoises.

In addition to protecting wildlife populations through rehabilitation (rescued and/or rehabilitated animals) and providing a place for them to live, the sanctuary also plays a role in conserving wildlife as a whole through its various natural habitats, such as forests, savannahs, and wetlands. The result is an ecosystem with a wide range of wildlife species and habitats.

Sustainable conservation practices that promote biodiversity recovery are on display at Haller Park, making it a model for the regeneration and preservation of our environment and a popular tourist destination.
