Ai-Ais Richtersveld Transfrontier Park
Overview
The Ai-Ais Richtersveld Transfrontier Park is a conservation park that stretches across both Namibia and South Africa. South Africa’s Richtersveld National Park and Namibia’s Ai-Ais Hot Springs Game Park came together to create this larger peace park. The park appears to be a dry, desolate, and barren land, seemingly impossible to inhabit any wildlife that could survive off of this landscape, but this isn’t quite the case. Many smaller animals have adjusted and become adept to living under such conditions as monkeys, antelopes, and gemsbok.
Along with the spark of wildlife, archeological remnants of ancient human life have also been discovered within the park. Namibia’s massive Fish River Canyon also exists inside of Ai-Ais Richtersveld Transfrontier Park. The park itself is a storyteller of geographical landscapes and the transformations that have taken place over millions of years as both the evidence of lava flow and the presence of massive glaciers can be seen in the park.
