Day 1: Arrival in Kilimanjaro

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, a La Pisada Africa Safaris representative will greet you and transfer you to Springlands Hotel in Moshi. Enjoy dinner and relax at the hotel as you prepare for the climb ahead.

Day 2: Moshi to Mti Mkubwa Camp

After breakfast and a briefing at Springlands Hotel, meet your guides and porters before driving to Londorosi Gate (2,250m) for registration.

Continue to Lemosho Glades (2,000m) via a 4WD track and begin trekking through lush forest trails, home to black-and-white Colobus monkeys. The route gradually ascends to Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree) Camp, where you will spend the night.

Day 3: Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp

Leaving Mti Mkubwa Camp, the trail ascends through giant heather moorland, passing through dense vegetation before reaching Shira Ridge at around 3,600m. The descent leads to Shira 1 Camp, located on the plateau, offering breathtaking views of Kibo Peak.

Day 4: Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp

A gentle trek across the plateau leads to Shira 2 Camp, situated on scenic moorland meadows beside a stream. This day allows for acclimatization with optional short hikes around the plateau before resting for the night.

Day 5: Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower

The trek today leads through rocky terrain towards Lava Tower (4,600m), an important acclimatization point. After lunch, descend into Barranco Valley, known for its giant groundsels and lobelias. Arrive at Barranco Camp, where you will spend the night beneath the towering Barranco Wall.

Day 6: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Begin the morning with a non-technical but thrilling climb up the Barranco Wall. After reaching the top at 4,200m, continue along an undulating trail with stunning views of Kibo and Mount Meru. Descend into Karanga Valley before climbing to Karanga Camp, your resting place for the night.

Day 7: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

The climb continues to Barafu Camp, a high-altitude camp positioned on a rocky ridge below the Kibo summit cone. Arrive in the early afternoon to rest and prepare for the final summit attempt later that night.

Day 8: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

Start the final ascent around midnight, climbing steep scree slopes to Stella Point (5,685m) before reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa. After celebrating, descend to Barafu Camp for a short rest before continuing to Mweka Camp for the night.

Descend through lush rainforest trails to Mweka Gate, where successful climbers receive their summit certificates. Transfer back to Springlands Hotel in Moshi, where you can enjoy a hot shower and a well-deserved rest.
