Day 1 : Nairobi National Park
08:00 AM – Pick-Up from Your Nairobi Hotel
Your day begins with a pick-up from your hotel as you set off on a tour filled with history, conservation, and local craftsmanship.
08:30 AM – Visit the Karen Blixen Museum
Arrive at the Karen Blixen Museum, located on the serene outskirts of Nairobi. This historic farmhouse, once home to Karen Blixen, the author of Out of Africa, tells the story of her life in Kenya between 1914 and 1931. Nestled at the foot of the Ngong Hills, the home remains a symbol of her legacy, preserved as a cultural landmark.
11:00 AM – David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage
Next, visit the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, a sanctuary for orphaned elephants and rhinos. Watch the baby elephants being fed and playing in the mud, and listen to a conservation talk from a caretaker about their rescue stories and rehabilitation process. If lucky, you may also spot a young rhino being cared for at the orphanage.
01:00 PM – Lunch at Karen Blixen Coffee House
Enjoy a relaxing lunch at the Karen Blixen Coffee House (Tamambo Restaurant), a peaceful setting surrounded by lush gardens, offering a perfect break before the afternoon tour.
02:30 PM – Experience the Giraffe Centre
After lunch, visit the Giraffe Centre, where you can get up close and feed the endangered Rothschild’s giraffes. This interactive stop allows for personal encounters, and learning about the conservation efforts that have helped increase their population.
03:30 PM – Visit Kazuri Beads Factory
The final stop of the day takes you to the Kazuri Beads and Pottery Centre, a self-help project supporting Kenyan women. Here, you can watch the process of handmade ceramic jewellery production and purchase unique souvenirs, knowing that each piece supports local artisans and their families.
05:00 PM – Return to Your Hotel
With a day full of enriching experiences, your driver will drop you back at your hotel, marking the end of your Nairobi cultural and wildlife tour.
